Busche files for another run
By J. David Barron, dbarron@starlocalnews.com
Highland Village city council incumbent Fred Busche announced his bid to run for re-election for Place 5. Busche is currently unopposed. Candidates have until March 1 to file their intent to run. The election is May 11.
Busche previously served three consecutive terms before sitting out, then served one year of an unexpired term on Place 5. He is seeking his first full term in his current place on the council.
"In the three terms I served before, we did a lot to put together the package of the shopping centers at the corner of [FM] 2499 and [State highway] 407," Busche said. "It was a great deal of preparation to be able to put that together and I was intimately involved with putting together that preparation. Now we are in the process of widening [Interstate] 35 and there is going to be redevelopment that's going to be necessary to make that happen, and I want to be around to help make that happen."
"I have been interested in the development of Highland Village as a place next to the lake that's a good place to live," he said. "We have our 50th anniversary coming up [for Highland Village], and we are excited about that because, as you can imagine, that's a big deal to us."
