GIRLS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Mesquite, Sachse open district play with victories

Several 12-5A teams got off to strong starts in non-district play. Among those was Longview, who brought an impressive 11-2 overall record into its match against Mesquite on Friday.
But the Skeeters reminded the Lobos that this is a new season and they used a goal from Naidine Jones to post a 1-0 victory in the district opener for both teams.
Sachse started 11-5A on the right foot with a 7-0 blanking of North Garland.
The Mustangs got plenty of production from the offense, as Chelsea Followwell and Cyela Hintzen each scored twice and Brandi Baker, Tori Hendrickson and Ally Warren each added goals.
In non-district play, Poteet got a hat trick from Kaylah Hunter but it was not quite enough in a 4-3 loss to McKinney Boyd and West Mesquite fell short in a 1-0 setback to Woodrow Wilson.
