Rowlett has long been a nemesis for Sachse in district softball play.

The Mustangs finally broke through two years ago with their first victory over the Eagles and on Tuesday, they served notice they might be ready to take over the top spot in 11-5A.

Sachse scored in each of the first three innings, highlighted by a three-run second inning, as it went on to a 6-3 victory in the district opener for both teams.

Bailey Parker went the distance on the mound for the Mustangs, striking out two.

Emilee McDonald had three hits, including a double with a RBI. Bry Carlisle and Tresa Cisneros each drove in two runs, while Shanna McBroom added a run batted in.

The Sachse win overshadowed a huge game for Rowlett's Grasyn Langley, who had a double, triple and home run.

Also on Tuesday, Naaman Forest defeated South Garland, 14-2, and Garland knocked off Lakeview, 11-5.

The teams will return to tournament play this week and then resume the 11-5A season on Tuesday.
