Man dies following crash: Mesquite victim flown to Parkland after truck tumbles into Sunnyvale creek

Published: Thursday, February 21, 2013 2:29 PM CST
The Dallas County Sheriff's Department is reporting the death of an elderly man whose truck crashed into a creek late Tuesday night.

Clare Casebolt, a 73-year-old Mesquite man, was driving through Sunnyvale around 9 p.m. headed westbound on Tripp Road when, a sheriff's spokesman said, it is believed the driver lost control and crashed into the North Mesquite Creek.

Casebolt was pulled from the creek by rescuers and flown to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The sheriff's department is still investigating the crash, as there was not an immediate indication of what caused Casebolt to stray to the left of the road and then veer sharply into the wooded area.
