Join the fun with Summer Adventures
Summer might begin in June, but for a few qualified individuals, it will begin Saturday, March 16. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hampton Inn, 1700 Rodeo Drive in Mesquite, Summer Adventures in Fair Park will hold a job fair for seasonal positions available for energetic and outgoing individuals.
At Summer Adventures, an oasis of fun and excitement located in the heart of Dallas, you'll work in a fun, hang-loose environment, work with cool people, and be a part of North Texas' newest attraction.
Applications must be completed online prior to attending job fairs. Visit http://www.fairparkfun.com/?page_id=700 for information.
DVAP hosting free legal clinic
The Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), a joint initiative of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, will hold a free legal clinic at 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, at the Belo Mansion, 2101 Ross Ave. in Dallas, for Dallas County residents who meet certain financial guidelines.
Volunteer attorneys will provide free legal assistance for Dallas County residents to assist with benefits, consumer, employment, family, housing, landlord-tenant, probate, real property, tax and wills matters. DVAP does not help with criminal cases, tickets, or fee-generating cases, such as medical malpractice and personal injury matters.
DVAP provides advice, brief legal services and full representation. If residents need assistance before or after the clinic, they can attend one of the DVAP's other legal clinics held in the Dallas area eight times each month. For a full listing of the clinics, log on to www.dallasbar.org/dvap. Residents may also contact the Dallas Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service at 214-220-7444.
Friends of the Library ongoing book sale
The Book Nook, operated by the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library, is located in the back of the library by the copier. The sale offers adult and children's fiction and nonfiction in hardcover and paperback, as well as CDs, DVDs, videocassettes, magazines and books on audio cassette.
The collection is updated weekly with prices ranging from 10 cents to $2. Proceeds from the book sale are used to support programs and services at the library.
To keep the book sale going, the Friends of the Library depend on donations from the public. Sort through your books, movies, music and magazines, and bring in your unwanted items to the library anytime during library hours. Tax deduction slips are available; just ask.
The Sunnyvale Public Library is located at 402 Tower Place. For information, call 972-226-4491 or visit sunnyvalepubliclibrary.org
