Incumbent Mesquite city councilman Brian Hutcheson is headed into a runoff election with former councilman Greg Noschese. With all 94 precincts reporting Noschese lead with 1,883 votes (49.36 percent) to Hutcheson’s 1,574 votes (41.26 percent). The third candidate on the ballot, retired Mesquite police officer Roger Barringer, secured 358 votes (9.38 percent).

Incumbent school board member Christina Hall secured 2,053 votes (55.52 percent) compared to Julie Greer’s 1,645 votes (44.48 percent) to win reelection as the Mesquite ISD Trustee for Place No. 6.

Incumbent school board member Christina Hall has secured 2,053 votes (55.52 percent) compared to Julie Greer’s 1,645 votes (44.48 percent) to maintain her lead in the Mesquite ISD Trustee Place No. 6 race, with 122 of 125 precincts reporting.

Greg Noschese has secured 1,883 votes (49.36 percent) compared to Brian Hutcheson’s 1,574 votes (41.26 percent) and Roger Barringer’s 358 votes (9.38 percent) in the city council place No. 5 race in Mesquite, with 74 of the 94 precincts reporting. If none of the candidats can secure the 50.01 percent of the votes required to win the election, a runoff election will take place.

Incumbent school board member Christina Hall has secured 2,053 votes (55.52 percent) compared to Julie Greer’s 1,645 votes (44.48 percent) to maintain her lead in the Mesquite ISD Trustee Place No. 6 race, with 94 of 125 precincts reporting.

Incumbent school board member Christina Hall has secured 1,172 votes (56.21 percent) compared to Julie Greer’s 913 votes (43.79 percent) to widen her early lead in the Mesquite ISD Trustee Place No. 6 race, with eight of 125 precincts reporting.

Greg Noschese has secured 1088 votes (50.72 percent) compared to Brian Hutcheson’s 838 votes (39.07 percent) and Roger Barringer’s 219 votes (10.21 percent) in the city council place No. 5 race in Mesquite, with four of the 94 precincts reporting.

Greg Noschese has secured 923 votes (48.55 percent) compared to Brian Hutcheson’s 779 votes (40.98percent) and Roger Barringer’s 199 votes (10.47 percent) in the city council place No. 5 race in Mesquite through early voting.

Incumbent school board member Christina Hall has secured 1,026 votes (55.55 percent compared to Julie Greer’s 821 votes (44.45 percent) to take an early lead in the Mesquite ISD Trustee Place No. 6 race through early voting.

A major airshow, Take to the Skies AirFest, is about to take over the Metroplex during Memorial Day weekend, May 26-27. The event will begin both days at 10 a.m. at Mesquite Metro Airport, 1340 Airport Blvd.

Town East Mall is offering a chance for mothers and their children to interact together on Wednesday, May 9. The mall’s kids club kicks off its Mother’s Day celebrations at 11 a.m. with several activities focused on mom and her “little helpers.”

Mesquite police have a suspect behind bars in a Sunday night shooting.

The Real.Texas.Festival. Took a brief pause in its entertaiment schedule on Saturday, April 28, to honor a heroic member of the military. Mesquite Mayor John Monaco presented the Key to the City to Staff Sgt. Allen Christopher Doggett.

MESQUITE-- The world of competitive eating crowned another victor as Pennsylvania's Bob Shoudt managed to hold of the Erik “The Red” Denmark to claim a spot in the Hooters World Championships in New York City. Shoudt managed to consume 120 wings to Denmark's 117 in the 10 minute time limit.

MESQUITE-- The 6th Annual Real.Texas.Festival. in Mesquite kicked off its second day with its annual battle of the bands competition. The competition pitted six high school-aged bands against each other to determine which group best commanded the stage and delivered during the battle.

A suspect is dead after being shot by a Mesquite police officer.

The Mesquite Police Department presented its annual meritorious conduct awards for 2011 during the regular city council session on Monday, April 16. The awards are voted on by a board within the police department that reviews recommendations for employee awards based on outstanding acts or performances in which a citizen or officer brings credit to the department or community.

The American Heart Association's HeartChase is headed to the area. The event will take place at Paschall Park, 799 W. Bruton Road in Mesquite, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 21. The event features a combination of activities inspired by the television shows The Amazing Race and Minute-to-Win-It.

The Mesquite City Council voted 4-2, to approve a permit to allow a Mesquite assisted living facility to continue to operate in the 2600 block of Beeman Drive with eight occupants in a single family residence. Dissenting votes were cast by Mesquite mayor John Monaco and Councilman Brian Hutcheson. Councilman Bill Porter was not present and did not vote.

The all clear signal went out and fortunately a day after some of the heaviest storms the Metroplex has seen in years there were no fatalities.

One of the goals of Keep Mesquite Beautiful is to help keep the city clear of clutter and debris. The group hosts its biannual trash bash event on Saturday, April 14.

Mesquite’s annual rodeo parade, a long-standing area tradition marches through downtown Mesquite at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 31.

Lots of masks, pageantry and high flying acrobatics are about to invade the Mesquite Arena on April 22, when Luche Libre USA’s Masked Warriors Live Tour heads into the Metroplex.

The city of Mesquite first began working on getting a control tower at its airport in 2006. The city received a grant through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to cover a portion of the cost.

Mesquite Arena has hosted numerous rodeos since it first opened its doors, but none quite like the event that takes place this weekend. The arena will host Hip Hop Cowboys, a new format that offers a unique blend of traditional cowboy rodeo activities and hip hop music. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 17.

Mesquite Police are investigating the driver of a red Ford Mustang that fled two separate hit and run accidents before crashing into the rear of a marked Mesquite police car on I-635.

Anyone on the eastern side of Dallas County frustrated with the traffic or cost of the commute to and from work is about to have an alternative thanks to an agreement between the city of Mesquite and DART. Mesquite launches its new mass transit service, COMPASS, on Monday, March 12 at 5:02 a.m. when the first shuttle leaves the park and ride.

Another powerful voice is headed to Mesquite.
