Incumbent Mesquite city councilman Brian Hutcheson is headed into a runoff election with former councilman Greg Noschese. With all 94 precincts reporting Noschese lead with 1,883 votes (49.36 percent) to Hutcheson’s 1,574 votes (41.26 percent). The third candidate on the ballot, retired Mesquite police officer Roger Barringer, secured 358 votes (9.38 percent).

Greg Noschese has secured 1,883 votes (49.36 percent) compared to Brian Hutcheson’s 1,574 votes (41.26 percent) and Roger Barringer’s 358 votes (9.38 percent) in the city council place No. 5 race in Mesquite, with 74 of the 94 precincts reporting. If none of the candidats can secure the 50.01 percent of the votes required to win the election, a runoff election will take place.

MESQUITE-- The world of competitive eating crowned another victor as Pennsylvania's Bob Shoudt managed to hold of the Erik “The Red” Denmark to claim a spot in the Hooters World Championships in New York City. Shoudt managed to consume 120 wings to Denmark's 117 in the 10 minute time limit.

The Mesquite City Council voted 4-2, to approve a permit to allow a Mesquite assisted living facility to continue to operate in the 2600 block of Beeman Drive with eight occupants in a single family residence. Dissenting votes were cast by Mesquite mayor John Monaco and Councilman Brian Hutcheson. Councilman Bill Porter was not present and did not vote.
