Grounded and pounded: "King Mo" knocks out Petruzelli in opening round

THACKERVILLE, Okla. -- Plano East alum Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal didn't let lightning strike twice Wednesday night at WinStar World Casino.

Just four months removed from suffering just the second loss of his mixed martial arts career, the former Panther bounced back emphatically with a first-round knockout of UFC veteran Seth Petruzelli in the headline bout of Bellator 96 from Thackerville, Okla.

The contest was one half of the Bellator Summer Series light heavyweight tournament, with Lawal (10-2) advancing to meet Jacob Noe (12-2) in the finals July 31 at Bellator 97.
